Podere Castel Merlo, located in the Valcalepio region, has a rich history dating back to the 9th century and extending to the present day. After surviving medieval conflicts and various historical events, the castle is now owned by the Buelli family, who have restored it to its former glory.
HISTORY
From the Early Middle Ages...
The Castel Merlo Castle is an ancient fortress located in the Valcalepio region, dating back to the 9th century. Its long-standing presence in the area highlights its strategic role in defending the local territory, making it a place of great historical and cultural significance. In the past, the castle was involved in various historical events and medieval conflicts, and around 1450, Venice transformed it into a civil residence after conquering the Brescia and Bergamo territories.

After passing through the hands of various noble families, the castle was purchased by the Buelli family, who restored it and brought it back to its former glory. The renovation by architect Alessandro Agrati preserved the ancient atmosphere of the castle and revealed the 16th-century frescoes that had been covered with quicklime during the plague of the 1600s and forgotten over time.
